RESOLUTION NO. 202A. \5\
AUTHORIZING THE CHAIR'S SIGNATURE ON THE LOCAL AGENCY
FEDERAL AID PROJECT PROSPECTUS FOR NORTH THORP IIIGIIWAY.
YAKIMA RIVER BRIDGE CRP 302.20
WHEREAS: The North Thorp Highway-Yakima River Bridge Federal Funding will be
used for preventative maintenance to extend the life of the structure; and
WHEREAS: The existing paint system has failed throughout much of the bridge truss's
bottom chord, floor beams, stringers and bearings. Joint repairs will
include strip seals at the ends of the truss and silicon sealant at the floor
beams. The truss portal members that have been damaged by traffic
impacts will be repaired by heat straightening or replacing members. The
concrete spalls at the piers will be repaired and the bridge will be painted.;
and
WHEREAS: In preparation to advertise the project for design services in the Fall of
2020 Public Works is requesting the Washington State Department of
Transportation to release the Federal Funds for preliminary engineering;
and
WIIEREAS: A Local Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus must be executed by the
Chair acknowledging the project has been reviewed and is consistent with
the agency's comprehensive plan for community development; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners, in
the best interest of the public, does hereby approve the Chair's signature
on the Local Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus for North Thorp
Highway-Yakima River Bridge CRP 302-20.
