Awarded Funds Transfer Request- Independence Day Celebration 5/19/2020 Lodging Tax Committee, Because of the impacts of COVID-19, we have worked with Public Health to determine the cancellation of the Independence Day Celebration element of Pioneer Days. We are still looking at ways to implement virtual parade components, and are continuing to plan for the Cle Elum Fireworks Show with implemented social distancing tactics. Background The fireworks show will be held as usual in Memorial Park, with regular parking. To maintain social distancing in 2020, this year’s fireworks show will require families to stay in their own vehicles, in the bed of their vehicles to observe the fireworks, or perhaps to social distance while seated in the grass. Because of this year’s circumstances, will be targeting this community event specifically towards locals. We are considering placing tape x-marks 6 feet in the Memorial Park grass area with signage to encourage grass-seating while social distancing, and are working with Public Safety to determine this as our timeline progresses. We are requesting that the park restrooms are open for this event, and we will create handwashing mandate signage for inside the restrooms. Request We are requesting to return the awarded $22,886 for our 1st annual Independence Day Celebration in 2020, and are asking that instead, we could be awarded $10,000 to produce the fireworks show for this event given the current circumstances. This $10,000 would not only make this socially responsible element of the event possible, but could go towards the fireworks for our Santa Parade in Cle Elum later this year.
