KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA SESSION DATE: July 21, 2020 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Notice of Call for Sealed Bids for <br />the Bullfrog Road Project, CRP 300-20. <br />BACKGROUND: On January 15, 2020 Kittitas County Board of County <br />Commissioners put in place a temporary speed <br />reduction on Bullfrog Road responding to unforeseen <br />significant roadway deterioration (Resolution 2020- <br />001). Public Works has been preparing a design and <br />assembling a construction contract advertisement to <br />repair the roadway. <br />The work is being completed with Federal Funding <br />from both the Surface Transportation Block Grant and <br />Highway Infrastructure Funding programs, and local <br />road maintenance funding from Public Works. The <br />engineer's estimated cost range is: $615,000.00 to <br />675,000.00. <br />The bid package will include bid requests for the <br />improvement of Bullfrog Road consisting of planing <br />existing pavement, adjusting utility valve cases and <br />manholes, overlaying with hot mix asphalt, temporary <br />traffic control and permanent roadway striping. <br />Call for bids are advertised in the legal newspaper and <br />the Daily Journal of Commerce. <br />Bids are scheduled to be delivered by 9 AM on August <br />12, 2020 to the Public Works Department and will be <br />opened at the Public Works office. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Move to approve Notice of Call for Sealed Bids for the <br />Bullfrog Road project and direct staff to advertise as <br />requested. <br />HANDLING: Return one (1) copy to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Notice of Call for Sealed Bids <br />LEAD STAFF: Mark Cook, Director of Public Works <br />
