KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: July 21, 2020 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to approve the Resolution Authorizing the Chair's <br />Signature on the Local Agency Federal Aid Project <br />Prospectus for the North Thorp Highway -Yakima River <br />Bridge CRP 302-20. <br />BACKGROUND: On December 30, 2019, Kittitas County Public Works was <br />advised by Washington State Department of Transportation <br />(WSDOT) that our North Thorp Highway -Yakima River <br />Bridge Project was selected to receive funding through the <br />Local Bridge Program. <br />This project originally required 13.5 percent match in local <br />funds for the Preliminary Engineering phase. The Federal <br />Highway Administration has recently advised that projects <br />in certain programs that are obligated for funding prior to <br />September 30, 2020 will be eligible for 100 percent federa <br />funding for eligible costs. <br />This Project Prospectus covers the Federal Funding for the <br />preliminary engineering phase and needs to be approved by <br />WSDOT Local Programs. The approval needs to happen so <br />WSDOT can evaluate the need to assign Kittitas County an <br />Underutilized Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (UDBE) <br />participation commitment goal prior to advertisement for <br />design services. <br />Public Works is preparing to solicit for design services in <br />2020. This requires the Local Agency Federal Aid Project <br />Prospectus to be signed and approved by the Chair of the <br />BOCC. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION:.
