AGENDA STAFF REPORT
AGENDA DATE: July 7, 2020
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve the Professional Services Agreement
between Camtek Inc. and the Kittitas County Jail to install cameras in the corridor that
runs between the jail and courts.
BACKGROUND: The corridor that runs between the jail and the courts, which is used
to securely transfer inmates between those locations, currently does not have cameras that
link into the courthouse's surveillance system. If an emergency were to occur in the
corridor, Courthouse Security would not immediately know of the threat or emergency
unless they were already present. Jail or court staff would be required to call Courthouse
Security on the phone and request them to respond to the area while also monitoring the
emergency, taking radio traffic, controlling doors, etc. This project will enhance security
by allowing the Courthouse Security Officers to monitor the corridor in the same manner
as the rest of the courthouse.
INTERACTION: This Proposal was reviewed and approved by the Kittitas County
Prosecutor's Office.
RECOMMENDATION: Request to Approve the Professional Services Agreement
between Camtek Inc. and the Kittitas County Jail to install cameras in the corridor that
runs between the jail and courts.
