ACTION REQUESTED: Request the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) to set a Public Hearing for 2:00pm on July 21st, 2020 at Kittitas County Courthouse Commissioner's Auditorium 205 Wet
5th Ave. Suite 109 Ellensburg, WA 98926 to consider an Ordinance Adopting Legislation to Authorize a Sales and Use Tax for Affordable and Supportive Housing in Accordance with Substitute
House Bill 1406.
BACKGROUND: House Bill 1406 is a sales tax credit that allows local jurisdictions to impose a local state-shared sales and use tax to fund affordable or supportive housing. The consumer
does not pay this tax, and the effective sales tax rate remains the same. Instead, this tax is credited against the 6.5% state sales tax.
INTERACTION: The Homeless and Affordable Housing Committee has been notified of that this may go to Public Hearing.
RECOMMENDATION: Request the Board of County Commissioners to set the Public Hearing to adopt the Ordinance
