ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Establish County Road Number
supporting the painting of the North Thorp
Highway -Yakima River Bridge
BACKGROUND: Kittitas County has been selected to receive $2,486,
250.00 from the Federal Local Bridge Program for
the North Thorp Highway -Yakima River Bridge
repair and painting. The North Thorp Highway
Bridge spanning the Yakima River needs
preventative maintenance to extend the life of the
fracture critical structure. The existing paint system
has failed throughout much of the truss's bottom
chord, floor beams, stringers and bearings. The joint
repairs will include strip seals at the ends of the
truss and silicon sealant at the floor beams. The
truss portal members damaged by traffic impacts
will be repaired by heat straightening or replacing
members. The concrete spalls at the piers will be
repaired and the bridge will be painted.

BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF KITTITAS COUNTY, STATE OF WASHINGTON, in the matter
of initiating a county road project designated as:
CRP NO: 302-20 JOB NO: RC2091-HP
IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED N Thorp Hwy -Yakima River Bridge
The North Thorp Highway Bridge spanning the Yakima River needs preventative Maintenance to extend the life of the
fracture critical structure. The existing paint system has failed throughout much of the truss's bottom chord, floor beams,

This project is hereby declared to be a public necessity and the Director of Public Works acting as the County Engineer is hereby
ordered and authorized to report and proceed thereon as by law provided. (RCW 36.75.050, 36.80.030, 36.80.070).
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that an appropriation from the officially adopted road fund budget and based on the Director of
Public Works' estimate, is hereby made in the amounts and for the purposes shown:
