AGENDA DATE: July 7, 2020
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve the Resolution Establishing a
County Road Number conducting a clear zone
inventory for safety analysis pursuant to a highway
safety grant.
BACKGROUND: Kittitas County has been selected to receive
$70,900.00 (Federal Highway Safety Improvement
Program) towards conducting a clear zone inventory
for safety analysis. This inventory will inform us of
unsafe roadside elements close to the traveled way.
The project will also evaluate mitigation measures
such as removal, relocation, shielding and
delineation. Factors being evaluated will include
crash severity potential, maintenance needs and
costs.
INTERACTION:
Public Works
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution establishing a county road
number conducting a clear zone inventory for safety
analysis pursuant to a Federal Highway Safety
Improvement Program grant.
HANDLING: Return two (1) originals to Public Works

BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF KITTITAS COUNTY, STATE OF WASHINGTON, in the matter
of initiating a county road project designated as:

IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED Clear Zone Inventory
Kittitas County Public Works has secured funding to conduct clear zone inventory for safety analysis.

This project is hereby declared to be a public necessity and the Director of Public Works acting as the County Engineer is hereby
ordered and authorized to report and proceed thereon as by law provided. (RCW 36.75.050, 36.80.030, 36.80.070).
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that an appropriation from the officially adopted road fund budget and based on the Director of
Public Works' estimate, is hereby made in the amounts and for the purposes shown:
