KITTITAS COUNTY <br />SHERIFF’S OFFICE <br /> <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: June 16, 2020 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Acknowledge Agreement between Lexis Nexis <br />and Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office to provide online legal research materials for the <br />Corrections Center. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: Lexis Nexis has been the jail’s source/provider of legal research <br />materials via their online platform for a number of years. Prior to the online platform, the <br />Prosecutor’s Office supplied hard copy legal materials to the jail for the inmate’s use. <br />The Prosecutor’s Office paid for the Lexis Nexis subscription when the online platform <br />became available. As the Prosecutor’s Office is no longer providing the jail with hard <br />copies, nor are they an administrator for the jail’s terminal, the jail is going to assume the <br />Lexis Nexis contract from them. For the current contract, funds will be moved from the <br />PAO budget to the Sheriff’s budget. The Sheriff’s Office will budget for the subscription <br />hereafter. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: This Professional Services Agreement was reviewed and approved by <br />the Kittitas County Prosecutor’s Office. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Request to Acknowledge Agreement between Lexis Nexis <br />and Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office to provide online legal research materials for the <br />Corrections Center. <br /> <br />HANDLING: None. <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Command Staff
