AGENDA DATE: June 16, 2020
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Acknowledge Agreement between Lexis Nexis
and Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office to provide online legal research materials for the
Corrections Center.
BACKGROUND: Lexis Nexis has been the jail’s source/provider of legal research
materials via their online platform for a number of years. Prior to the online platform, the
Prosecutor’s Office supplied hard copy legal materials to the jail for the inmate’s use.
The Prosecutor’s Office paid for the Lexis Nexis subscription when the online platform
became available. As the Prosecutor’s Office is no longer providing the jail with hard
copies, nor are they an administrator for the jail’s terminal, the jail is going to assume the
Lexis Nexis contract from them. For the current contract, funds will be moved from the
PAO budget to the Sheriff’s budget. The Sheriff’s Office will budget for the subscription
hereafter.
INTERACTION: This Professional Services Agreement was reviewed and approved by
the Kittitas County Prosecutor’s Office.
RECOMMENDATION: Request to Acknowledge Agreement between Lexis Nexis
and Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office to provide online legal research materials for the
Corrections Center.
