COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON COMMISSIONERS AUDITORIUM/WEBEX SPECIAL MEETING FRIDAY 10:00 A.M. MAY 29, 2020
Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith, Vice-Chairman Laura
Osiadacz (via WebEx) and Commissioner Cory Wright (via WebEx).
Others: Taylor Crouch, Deputy Clerk of the Board I; Julie Kjorsvik,
Clerk of the Board (via Webex); Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the
Board II (via WebEx); Judy Pless, Budget and Finance Manager (via
Webex); Jim Goeben, IT Director (via WebEx), and 4 members of the
public (via WebEx).
SPECIAL MEETING PLANNING UPDATE/COVID-19 COMMISSIONERS
At 10:00 a.m. Chairman Wachsmith opened a Special Meeting for the
Board to provide planning updates relating to COVID-19.
DISCUSSION COVID-19 CARES FUNDING COMMISSIONERS
Judy Pless, Budget and Finance Manager overviewed the submitted
funding requests from departments for CARES funding with the Board.
Ms. Pless, and Jim Geoben, IT Director answered Board questions. The
Board asked to review the Sheriff’s Office line items in another
meeting with Clay Myers, Sheriff, and his Staff. Ms. Pless was
directed to move forward with all other CARES item requests. RESO. NO.2020-111 ECONOMIC RECOVERY COMMITTEE COMMISSIONERS
Chairman Wachsmith reviewed the Resolution with the Board. This
Resolution has gone through the Prosecutor’s Office for approval
already. Commissioner Wright stated he would like to hold this until
Monday for further review. Commissioner Osiadacz stated she would
like to move forward with approving the Resolution today.
Commissioner Wright stated he wanted to check with stakeholders
still, and if the Resolution were voted on at this meeting, he would
abstain. Chairman Wachsmith stated his support for approving the
Resolution as the work to get key stakeholders involved had been
done. Chairman Wachsmith moved to approve Resolution No. 2020-111, A
Resolution of the Formation of the Kittitas County Economic Recovery
Committee. Commissioner Osiadacz seconded. Motion carried 2-0.
Commissioner Wright abstained from the vote.
SPECIAL MEETING PLANNING UPDATE/COVID-19 COMMISSIONERS
Commissioner Osiadacz updated the Board on whether vacation homes in
Kittitas County will be accepted in phase 2. The phase allows for

them if the Board chooses to do so. Commissioner Osiadacz stated
that Upper County supports the opening of vacation rentals, the
Board agreed. The messaging will be sent out.
Commissioner Wright updated the Board on video recording of BOCC
meetings. Commissioner Wright requests that all BOCC meetings be
recorded and posted, including all Department Study Sessions. This
item is placed on the Monday Admin meeting agenda for 6/1/2020 at
9:00 a.m.
Commissioner Wright updated the Board on the Ferguson Group, they
have asked for BOCC support. The Board agreed to support the
Ferguson Group, Commissioner Wright will reach out to the Ferguson
Group.
Chairman Wachsmith updated the Board on the letters on intent tied
to Resolution No. 2020-094.
Commissioner Osiadacz stated the importance of remaining as
transparent as possible. Commissioner Wright agreed.
