KITTITAS COUNTY <br />SOLID WASTE AND MAINTENANCE MINUTES <br />BOCC CONFERENCE ROOM, 205 WEST 5TH ROOM 108 - ELLENSBURG <br />Regular Meeting <br />TUESDAY 2:00 PM May 12, 2020 <br />Board members present via Webex: Brett Wachsmith, Chairman, Laura Osiadacz, Vice - <br />Chairman and Commissioner Cory Wright. <br />Others: Mandy Buchholz (via Webex) Patti Johnson and Lisa Lawrence <br />Meeting called to Order at 2:00 p.m. <br />Solid Waste Updates: Patti informed the Board that garbage tonnages and revenue are down, <br />but the number of customers is up. Patti also informed the Board that she laid off our limited <br />part-time employee and that she would re-evaluate the numbers at the end of May. <br />Discuss New Transfer Station Infrastructure Design: Patti informed the Board that she is <br />trying to keep the project moving stating that she budgeted $330,000.00 for the design to keep <br />Jacobs working on the project and they quoted $261,000.00 for the engineering phase which <br />would get us through the design and permitting process. Patti informed the Board that she <br />wanted to be ready by the 1St of September if a stimulus package comes available for <br />infrastructure. Patti informed the Board that she will work on the details and that the Board will <br />see it on the next agenda. Commissioner Wachsmith requested Patti send him the information to <br />share for shovel ready projects. <br />Maintenance Updates: Patti informed the Board that she is working with Lisa Young on the <br />Maintenance Covid plan and that the first round, of installing partitions, screens, and taping, is <br />complete. <br />Departments Preparedness for Covid-19 Phases: Patti informed the Board that she did a walk <br />through of the Courthouse with Dr. Larson and that he seemed happy with the plans in place. A <br />brief discussion was held on the timeframe of re -opening and the length of the phases with the <br />goal of being ready as soon as possible. <br />Request Board direction for IT's request for a sink: Patti asked the Board for direction on <br />IT's request for a sink. Discussion was held on multi-access to other sinks and not spending <br />money in these uncertain times. The Board decided that the request is not high priority. <br />Request Board direction for Probation's request for new entrance and remodel: Patti <br />explained Probations request and ed for direction. The Board decided that the request is not high <br />priority and that they might re -visit it later. Discussion was held on getting a better understanding <br />on Care funding and how it is to be spent with the current setbacks. <br />2020-05-12 MINUTES <br />
