COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM
REGULAR MEETING
MONDAY 9:40 A.M. DECEMBER 14, 2015
Board members present: Chairman Gary Berndt & Commissioner Paul
Jewell. Absent: Vice-Chairman Obie O’Brien.
Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board and Marsha Weyand,
Assessor.
REGULAR MEETING DEPARTMENT HEAD ASSESSOR
Marsha Weyand, Assessor reviewed RCW 84.52.020 and 84.52.070
relating to submission of levy certifications by Taxing Districts.
She explained how the statute states that the Legislative Authority
is to “certify” the Taxing District Levies to the County Assessor.
In the past the County Commissioners have “acknowledged” receipt of
them in an Agenda, but thought it should be a “certification”
instead.
Following discussion the Board instructed Ms. Weyand to work with
Deputy Prosecutor Christopher Horner to draft a Resolution which
could be used as a certification and to place it on an upcoming
Agenda for consideration. Once a Resolution is created it could be
used in future years to certify receipt of the levies.
Meeting adjourned at 9:50 a.m.
