1/25/2016 MINUTES 1
COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM
REGULAR MEETING

MONDAY 9:40 A.M. JANUARY 25, 2016

Board members present: Chairman Obie O’Brien, Vice-Chairman Paul
Jewell & Commissioner Gary Berndt.

Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board; Judge James
Hurson; Judge Darrel Ellis & Lisa Young, HR Director.

REGULAR MEETING DEPARTMENT HEAD HUMAN RESOURCES

At 9:55 a.m. Lisa Young, HR Director presented the Board with the
two PAF’s that were previously considered and the Board requested
additional discussion with Judge Hurson and Judge Ellis.

Judge Hurson explained that he was very confused since he provided
everything required and the increase for the Court Administrator was
approved through the budget. He didn’t understand why further
discussion was required. Commissioner Jewell stated that in this
particular situation he felt the Board just flat made a mistake. He
stated that they were paying attention to so many details in the
budget process that this somehow slipped through. He apologized and
stated that with the signals given he could see where the confusion
came from, but that just because it’s approved in the budget doesn’t
guarantee it will happen. Judge Ellis echoed Judge Hurson’s
discussion and stated that he has been working on getting his
District Court Administrator’s wage where it should have been when
Ms. MacKenzie was promoted a few years back.

The Board asked that both Judge Hurson and Judge Ellis to be patient
as the Board is trying to accomplish some level of implementation of
the wage survey done by HR. They explained that their input will be
needed throughout the process. They assured both Judge Hurson and
Judge Ellis that the error will not happen again.

Meeting adjourned at 10:25 a.m.

KITTITAS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
DEPUTY CLERK OF THE BOARD KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON

Mandy Buchholz Obie O’Brien, Chairman
