MAY 2, 2017 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Paul Jewell; Vice-Chairman Laura <br />Osiadacz and Commissioner Obie O’Brien. <br /> <br />Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board II; Dan Carlson, CDS <br />Director; Mark Cook, Public Works Director; Neil Caulkins, Deputy <br />Prosecutor; Jerry Pettit, Auditor and 28 members of the public. <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Chairman Jewell called the meeting to order. <br /> <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br /> <br />Chairman Jewell led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION OF NEW COUNTY EMPLOYEES - NONE <br /> <br />PROCLAMATIONS <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION ROSLYN’S No. 1 MINE COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />Commissioner Osiadacz moved to approve a Proclamation declaring May 10, <br />2017 as “Roslyn’s No.1 Mine: Coal Miner’s Remembrance Day” in Kittitas <br />County and encouraged citizens to join them in celebrating and honoring <br />the 125th Anniversary of the event as presented. Commissioner O’Brien <br />seconded. Commissioner Osiadacz shared how proud she is of the pride <br />that the Community has to this day and their support of their ancestors. <br />She explained that it was a tragic day/event but out of it they worked <br />hard to create a better life and to continue the culture, showing the <br />true grit of the Community. She stated that she is very thankful to be a <br />part of the Community and thanked everyone in attendance for showing up <br />and showing their support. Commissioner O’Brien stated that it was a <br />dramatic event that impacted the heart of our States western pioneer <br />Community and it speaks to how resilient they are. He stated that the <br />Board is honored to acknowledge this anniversary and thanked <br />Commissioner Osiadacz for spear-heading and putting the Proclamation <br />together. Chairman Jewell expressed how moved he was listening to the <br />names be read from the Proclamation of the 125th Anniversary of event. He
