FINANCE STUDY SESSION MINUTES

Special Meeting
TUESDAY 9:00 AM March 26, 2019
Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright and Laura Osiadacz Commissioner, Vice-Chairman
Brett Wachsmith was absent.
Others: Jerry Pettit, County Auditor; Amy Mills, County Treasurer; Heather Seibert, Deputy Treasurer
and Judy Pless, Budget and Finance Manager.
EOC FUNDING
The Sheriff’s office called for the Emergency Operation Center (EOC) to be set up to coordinate the
planning/operations of the Sheriff’s office with all outside agencies, due to the tragic shooting incident.
This event pulled several staff members from other offices that assisted in the EOC. Pless indicated the
Board of County Commissioners had not declared an emergency, and no external funding is authorized,
discussion occurred about billing the Sheriff’s Department. The Board authorized the assisting County
departments to bill the Sheriff’s office for their staff time.
NEW COURTHOUSE DISCUSSION
Pless presented to the Board a white paper on the financing of the New Courthouse recommending
the Board propose the funding of the New Courthouse be presented on a ballot for the vote of the
people to fund the project;
the Board create a committee to coordinate which offices would be located in the new
Courthouse, Public Works Administrative Building/County Shop or the Old Courthouse and then
make a recommendation to the Board.
the Board hire a consultant to coordinate the committee and assist with the public involvement.
