01/30/2019 MINUTES 1

COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON COMMISSIONER’S CONFERENCE ROOM SPECIAL MEETING WEDNESDAY 8:00 A.M. JANUARY 30, 2019
Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright; Vice-Chairman Brett
Wachsmith & Commissioner Laura Osiadacz.

Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Mark Cook, Public Works
Director/Interim Engineer; and Patti Johnson, Solid Waste
Director/Project Manager.
SPECIAL MEETING PROJECT UPDATE COMMISSIONERS

At 8:00 a.m. Chairman Wright opened a Special Meeting to receive an
update on the Courthouse project.

Patti Johnson, Solid Waste Director/Project Manager presented the Board
with an updated list of estimated costs for the Courthouse project. The
Board had asked Ms. Johnson to obtain another estimate by removing the
Community Development Services, Public Health and Public Works from the
Courthouse and have a new facility built for them out at the airport.
She noted the estimate did not include the cost of demolition of the
Courthouse. There was discussion on issues relating to the lack of
parking that would be needed for employees and customers. Mark Cook,
Public Works Director/Interim Engineer reviewed Public Works funding
options for building a new facility and relocating the Lower County
Shop. Commissioner Wachsmith said he could get some information together
on bonding options.

Commissioner Osiadacz said she was in favor of keeping everyone together
under one roof and that’s what she has heard from the public as well.
She commented on how she’d like to hear from others and their ideas of
the different proposals.

The Board directed Julie Kjorsvik to place the item on the next
Management Team meeting for 20 minutes to provide an update.
Commissioner Wright and Ms. Johnson will be the ones providing the
update. Ms. Johnson said she would look at which Counties have built
facilities within the past 5 years and what they paid per square foot.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:55 a.m.
