SPECIAL MEETING UPDATE – FIRE MARSHAL COMMISSIONERS
At 3:30 p.m. Chairman Osiadacz opened a Special Meeting to receive
an update on options for the internal Fire Marshal structure.
Clay Myers, Undersheriff/Interim Fire Marshal gave an update on
permitting requests that had been processed under his review since
taking on the position as Interim Fire Marshal. He updated the
Board on walk through’s he has completed and follow up on the
concerns that came from TREX meeting the Board had.
There was discussion about moving the Sheriff’s Office Chief
Financial Manager into the Union and where they would place the Fire
Marshal if the Board moves forward. There was discussion about the
pros and cons of making that position Union or not. He stated that
he and the Sheriff have been reviewing all positions in-house and
considering if they are classified appropriately. He stated that he
is hoping todays discussion will address concerns and either
mitigate or alleviate the current concerns being expressed by some
of the Board. He stated that moving their Chief Financial Manager
into the Union is only a structural move, not performance and he has
had conversations with that employee.
Lisa Young, HR Director/Interim Event Center Director reviewed pay
scales and impacts/benefits to this change. She stated that the
Union the employee would be joining is going to be in negotiations
so there could be new scales proposed through that process.
Commissioner Wright stated that he has a lot of concerns at this
point and is not willing to support the current direction the
position is going. Chairman Osiadacz gave Commissioner Wright the
history from her time on the Board and explained why she supports
the proposal. Commissioner O’Brien explained why he keeps going back
and forth and reviewed the concerns he has.

on to commit the Board to the proposed direction. Lisa Young, HR

been under “other business” so there hasn’t been anything formal
yet.

consider a decision on the Fire Marshal/Code Official/Fire
Investigator Structure for Friday September 21, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. to
