02/06/2018 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />COMMISSIONERS AUDITORIUM <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />TUESDAY 2:00 P.M. FEBRUARY 6, 2018 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Laura Osiadacz, Vice-Chairman Obie <br />O’Brien and Commissioner Paul Jewell. <br /> <br />Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Mark Cook, Public Works <br />Director; Lucas Huck, Engineer; and 3 members of the public. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING PERRY ROAD RIGHT-OF-WAY PUBLIC WORKS <br /> <br />At 2:00 p.m. CHAIRMAN OSIADACZ opened a Public Hearing to consider <br />the vacation of a portion of Perry Road Right-of-Way. <br /> <br />LUCAS HUCK, ENGINEER provided a Staff Report including the <br />background of a request they received from Zirkle Fruit Company to <br />vacate a portion of Perry Road Right-of-Way. He recommended approval <br />of the request from Zirkle Fruit Company, subject to the receipt of <br />suitable land to allow for constructing a turn-around for the new <br />end of the County Road. COMMISSIONER JEWELL expressed concerns <br />relating to the bridge. PHIL HULL, FACILITIES MANAGER FOR ZIRKLE <br />FRUIT COMPANY provided information on their company and desire to <br />acquire property for more orchards, etc. He said they would be <br />interested in discussing taking on the bridge, but he would need to <br />talk to some other people first. <br /> <br />THERE BEING NO ONE REQUESTING TO TESTIFY, THE PUBLIC PORTION OF THE <br />HEARING WAS CLOSED. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER JEWELL felt the record should remain open to allow for <br />Staff to further discuss options with applicant and other parties, <br />and to amend their request to include property mentioned north of <br />the canal. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER JEWELL moved to continue the Public Hearing to Tuesday <br />February 20, 2018, noting the record is to remain open. COMMISSIONER <br />O’BRIEN seconded.
