1/22/2018 MINUTES 1
COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM
REGULAR MEETING

MONDAY 9:40 A.M. JANUARY 22, 2018

Board members present: Chairman Laura Osiadacz & Vice-Chairman Obie
O’Brien & Commissioner Paul Jewell.

Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board II; Jill Scheffer,
Event Center Director; Patti Johnson, Solid Waste/Maintenance
Director/Project Manager.

REGULAR MEETING DEPARTMENT HEAD EVENT CENTER

Jill Scheffer, Event Center Director presented a letter from KVFR in
response to her contacting them about a training burn for 809 N
Maple Street, Ellensburg, WA 98926. She asked that if the Board
would like her to proceed with what’s outlined in the letter from
KVFR. Patti Johnson, Solid Waste/Maintenance Director/Project
Manager asked if the Board would like her to reach out to the
asbestos abatement crew currently working at Shady Brook to see if
they could add the house at 809 N Maple Street to their current
Contract. The Board approved Ms. Scheffer to move forward and begin
working through the process to allow KVFR in to do the training burn
and they also approved Ms. Johnson working with the asbestos
abatement crew to see if they can perform the work at 809 N Maple
Street in addition to their contract for work being performed at
Shady Brook.

Ms. Scheffer stated that the gentleman who has been in the bowling
alley a few times has made an offer of fifteen hundred dollars to
take all the bowling stuff. The Board approved the request and asked
Ms. Scheffer to work with Kay Kresge in the Auditors Office so that
items don’t show up on surplus that are no longer available.

Ms. Scheffer provided some pictures of the “current” KVEC hillside.
She stated that it’s continuing to crumble away and feels something
should be done before it’s a bigger problem than it currently is.

The Board stated that they were aware of a study being done
previously on the hillside at the KVEC and to their recollection and
surprise it showed no immediate concerns. They directed her to
locate the report and follow up with the Board after that and then
they can determine if they need to get an Engineer to work on it,
etc.

Meeting adjourned at 9:55 a.m.
