COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
COMMISSIONER’S AUDITORIUM
SPECIAL MEETING
WEDNESDAY 1:00 P.M. DECEMBER 6, 2017
Board members present: Chairman Paul Jewell (arrived at 1:08); Vice
Chair Laura Osiadacz & Commissioner Obie O’Brien
Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board II; Joann Schaan,
Developmental Disabilities Coordinator; Kasey Knutson, Health
Promotion Supervisor; Robin Read, Public Health Administrator; Terry
Archer, Yakima Specialties, Inc.; Rolf & Michelle Williams, Kittitas
County Parent to Parent and one member of the public.
SPECIAL MEETING DD UPDATE COMMISSIONERS
At 1:05 p.m. Vice-Chairman Osiadacz opened a Special Meeting with
County Staff to receive presentations from Yakima Specialties and
the Parent to Parent/Parent Coalition.
Terry Archer, Supported Employment Director/CARF Surveyor with
Yakima Specialties, Inc. (YSI) presented a brochure on what services
and opportunities they provide.
Joann Schann, DD Coordinator Kittitas County explained that YSI has
responded to the RFQ they recently put out and it’s working its way
through the process and will be added to the list of providers. She
stated they are very excited to have this provider added.
The Board asked questions of Ms. Archer and thanked her for coming
in and presenting.
Michelle & Rolf Williams, Coordinator’s for Kittitas County Parent
to Parent/Parent Coalition presented handouts on their programs
which explains who they serve and what their mission is.
The Board asked questions of Ms. Williams and thanked her for coming
in and presenting. They offered to bring forward concerns/issues to
Olympia if needed to try and aide in their group’s success.
Joann Schann, DD Coordinator presented the Board with the DD Program
update in advance and the Board thanked her for that. They noted
they had no questions. They stated that they were made aware that
Ms. Schann was leaving the County and thanked her for all the
progress she has accomplished in her role and stated that they were
sorry to see her go.
