12/04/2017 MINUTES 1 <br /> COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM <br />REGULAR MEETING <br /> <br />MONDAY 9:50 A.M. DECEMBER 4, 2017 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Paul Jewell; Vice-Chairman Laura <br />Osiadacz & Commissioner Obie O’Brien. <br /> <br />Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board II; Greg Zempel, <br />Prosecutor. <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING DEPARTMENT HEAD PROSECUTOR <br /> <br />Greg Zempel, Prosecutor stated that with Merit vacating the Morris <br />Sorenson building he would like the Board to consider a request to <br />begin discussions for a Child Advocacy Center. He explained that <br />it’s something they have been talking about for quite some time and <br />explained the benefits of them being able to provide a safe <br />environment to interview/investigate children of sexual assaults and <br />abuse, etc. <br /> <br />The Board indicated that they would be happy to further discuss it <br />but encouraged Mr. Zempel to go physically walk through and look at <br />what the set up and environment would be like and then let them know <br />if it’s something that could work for their needs. <br /> <br />Chairman Jewell stated there is not really much of an option for <br />remodeling the location as it’s full of asbestos and other <br />complications that they have learned about through other remodel <br />projects.
