COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM
REGULAR MEETING
MONDAY 9:50 A.M. DECEMBER 4, 2017
Board members present: Chairman Paul Jewell; Vice-Chairman Laura
Osiadacz & Commissioner Obie O’Brien.
Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board II; Greg Zempel,
Prosecutor.
REGULAR MEETING DEPARTMENT HEAD PROSECUTOR
Greg Zempel, Prosecutor stated that with Merit vacating the Morris
Sorenson building he would like the Board to consider a request to
begin discussions for a Child Advocacy Center. He explained that
it’s something they have been talking about for quite some time and
explained the benefits of them being able to provide a safe
environment to interview/investigate children of sexual assaults and
abuse, etc.
The Board indicated that they would be happy to further discuss it
but encouraged Mr. Zempel to go physically walk through and look at
what the set up and environment would be like and then let them know
if it’s something that could work for their needs.
Chairman Jewell stated there is not really much of an option for
remodeling the location as it’s full of asbestos and other
complications that they have learned about through other remodel
projects. So cutting into the walls is not something they can do.
