COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
COMMISSIONER’S AUDITORIUM
SPECIAL MEETING
FRIDAY 1:00 P.M. DECEMBER 1, 2017
Board members present: Chairman Paul Jewell; Vice-Chairman Laura
Osiadacz; and Commissioner Obie O’Brien.
Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Judy Pless, Budget &
Finance Manager; Barb Demory, Lower District Court Administrator;
Lisa Young, Human Resource Director; Sue Higginbotham,
Administrative Assistant; Todd Davis, Noxious Weed Director; Elishia
Harvill, Office Administrator; Nick Henderson, Coroner; Brett
Wachsmith, Treasurer; Mike Hougardy, Assessor; Robin Read, Public
Health Administrator; Jim Goeben, IT Director; Lucas Huck, Engineer;
Heather Seibert, Chief Financial Manager; Diana MacKenzie, Upper
District Court Administrator; Jerry Pettit, Auditor; and Patti
Johnson, Solid Waste/Maintenance Director/Project Manager.
SPECIAL MEETING 2018 BUDGET COMMISSIONERS
At 1:00 p.m. Chairman Jewell opened a Special Meeting to review the
2018 preliminary budget. He said the Board would be discussing the
County’s health care benefit contribution for employees.
Lisa Young, Human Resource Director provided budget impacts and
information on employees who have medical coverage through the
County and those who waive.
Commissioner O’Brien moved to approve an additional contribution of
$25.00 to employees who enroll in employee-only County medical
coverage ($725.00/month); an additional contribution of $200.00 to
employees who enroll a spouse or child(ren) in County medical
($900.00/month); and an additional contribution of $300.00 to
employees who enroll full family in County medical
($1,000.00/month), effective January 1, 2018. Commissioner Osiadacz
seconded. Motion carried 3-0. It was noted those employees who
waiver coverage through the County will not receive an additional
contribution and would remain at $700.00 per month.
