COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />COMMISSIONERS' AUDITORIUM <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />TUESDAY 8:00 AM NOVEMBER 22, 2016 <br />Board members present: Obie O’Brien, Chairman; Paul Jewell, <br />Vice-Chairman; Laura Osiadacz, Commissioner <br />Others: Gene Dana, County Sheriff; Clay Myers, Undersheriff; <br />Heather Siebert, Chief Financial Manager; Judy Pless, Budget and <br />Finance Manager <br />SPECIAL MEETING COMMISSIONERS <br />Sheriff Budget <br />Gene Dana, Clay Myers, and Heather Siebert presented the 2017 <br />preliminary departmental budget. The following items were <br />reviewed: increase in overtime for corrections staff, new <br />personnel request for patrol, review of updates to job duties <br />for some of the staff, $10,000 for facilities management, Line <br />Deputy personnel will be voting on their new contract, slight <br />reduction in Kittcom bill, minor increases in jail phones. <br />Commissioner Osiadacz asked what could be used to offset the <br />projected increase or are there other cost savings within the <br />budget. Ellensburg is shopping for jail beds (Sunnyside, <br />Yakima). Bulletproof vests $1,000 per vest, tactical vest <br />$2,400. The department will be replacing 5 vehicles (2 general <br />fund and 3 3/10th). <br />Commissioner Jewell advised that they are probably not getting <br />new positions. The department was directed to remove the new <br />positions and all associated costs. <br />EMS Budget <br />Commissioner O’Brien asked about consistent funding. <br />Commissioner Osiadacz asked about repair maintenance costs. <br />Undersheriff Myers would look into the amount as there may be a <br />coding error. $3000 is for hosting a science institute class. <br /> <br />
