SPECIAL MEETING
TUESDAY 8:00 AM NOVEMBER 22, 2016

SPECIAL MEETING COMMISSIONERS
Sheriff Budget
Gene Dana, Clay Myers, and Heather Siebert presented the 2017
preliminary departmental budget. The following items were
reviewed: increase in overtime for corrections staff, new
personnel request for patrol, review of updates to job duties
for some of the staff, $10,000 for facilities management, Line
Deputy personnel will be voting on their new contract, slight
reduction in Kittcom bill, minor increases in jail phones.
Commissioner Osiadacz asked what could be used to offset the
projected increase or are there other cost savings within the
budget. Ellensburg is shopping for jail beds (Sunnyside,
Yakima). Bulletproof vests $1,000 per vest, tactical vest
$2,400. The department will be replacing 5 vehicles (2 general
fund and 3 3/10th).
Commissioner Jewell advised that they are probably not getting
new positions. The department was directed to remove the new
positions and all associated costs.
EMS Budget
Commissioner O’Brien asked about consistent funding.
Commissioner Osiadacz asked about repair maintenance costs.
Undersheriff Myers would look into the amount as there may be a
coding error. $3000 is for hosting a science institute class.
