HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-10-27-minutes-2015-preliminary-budget-discussion (2)COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON BOCC CONFERENCE ROOM SPECIAL MEETING MONDAY 8:00 AM OCTOBER 27, 2014 Board members present: Chairman Paul Jewell; Vice-Chairman Gary Berndt; Commissioner Obie O’Brien Others: Lower District Court Administrator Christine Luvera, Lower District Court Judge Jim Hurson, Upper District Court Administrator Diana MacKenzie, Superior Court Judge Sparks, County Clerk Joyce Julsrud, Administrative Assistance for the County Clerk Sarah Keith, Prosecutor Greg Zempel, Administrative Assistant to the Prosecutor Robin Raap, Legal Secretary Angela Bugni, Deputy Prosecutor Paul Sander, Budget and Finance Manager Judy Pless. SPECIAL MEETING COMMISSIONERS 2015 Preliminary Budget Discussion Judicial Family Group Lower District Court Christine Luvera and Judge Hurson presented their 2015 Preliminary Department Budget. Regarding the Public Defense budget, new standards go into effect 2015. Discussion was had regarding a position increase – to be removed from General fund and paid from Misdemeanant Probation. Revenues are down as filings are down (mostly infractions). Upper District Court Diana MacKenzie presented the 2015 Preliminary Department budget. Discussion occurred regarding the following items: Judge pro temp fees, banking fees, telephone charges, scanner, and projector. Laserfiche is taking the place of Liberty licenses so that expense may be reduced. Discussion occurred about scanners and software licenses and security wall. Superior Court Judge Judge Sparks discussed the 2015 Preliminary Department budget including the following items: increase attorney fees, upcoming retirements and requesting a new employee. County Clerk Joyce Julsrud and Sarah Keith presented their 2015 preliminary departmental budget including: an increase expense in supplies will be covered by a reduction in microfilming. Discussion was also had regarding tracking collection time. Law Library Greg Zempel, Robin Raap, Angela Bugni, and Paul Sander were present for the 2015 preliminary departmental budget. There were no changes to the law library for the 2015 budget year Commissioner Jewell advised to think about what can be reduced as total expenditures are increased and revenues are down.
