KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
COMMISSIONER’S CONFERENCE ROOM
SPECIAL MEETING
THURSDAY 10:00 A.M. AUGUST 24, 2017
Board members present: Chairman Paul Jewell; Vice-Chairman Laura
Osiadacz & Commissioner Obie O’Brien.
Others: Mandy Buchholz Deputy Clerk of the Board II; Patti Johnson,
Solid Waste/Maintenance Director/Project Manager; Kenn Triebelhorn,
Principal with Architects Rasmussen Triebelhorn (ART) and Brent
Wilson, Job Captain with ART.
SPECIAL MEETING SCOPING PROJECT UPDATE COMMISSIONERS
At 10:00 a.m. Chairman Jewell opened a Special Meeting to receive an
update on the Courthouse Space Needs Assessment with Architects
Rasmussen Triebelhorn (ART).
Kenn Triebelhorn, Principal with ART provided handouts for the Board
to review. There was discussion over the materials provided; parking
options; potential for lease space to commercial businesses; levels
of the future Courthouse 2, 3, or 4; adding a cafeteria and/or a
coffee stand and the possibilities of selling or demolishing other
County properties and whether or not any could be used for parking
that wouldn’t have a high likelihood of selling.
The Board stressed the importance of getting the rough order of
magnitude so they are given an opportunity to begin budgeting for
the project.
Mr. Triebelhorn stated that a discussion with the City needs to be
held regarding vacating all or some of West 6th Avenue, as well as
rezoning.
The Board will meet with Ms. Johnson to discuss each Department’s
requests and then Departments that the Board felt required further
discussion, an additional meeting would be set up. The Board needs
to get feedback to ART within the next few weeks.
