COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES

COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM
REGULAR MEETING
MONDAY 9:50 A.M. JULY 03, 2017
Board members present: Chairman Paul Jewell & Vice-Chairman Laura
Osiadacz. Excused: Commissioner Obie O’Brien.
Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board II; Jill Scheffer,
Event Center Director.
REGULAR MEETING DEPARTMENT HEAD EVENT CENTER
Jill Scheffer, KVEC Director presented the Board with background
information on the Luke Mezich Memorial Ride. She explained that Mr.
Mezich has requested the Event Center consider a reduction in the
camping fees for their event this year. She stated that their event
has increased 4-fold from 20 overnight campers to 80 campers and now
the cost of camping will cost exceed the cost of the event. She
stated that they have requested a “flat fee” for camping instead of
per hookup use. Ms. Scheffer stated that they are already receiving
a reduced rate as they pay $30.00 for hookups and $17.00 for dry
camp instead of $35.00 for a group rate.
The Board indicated that they would not allow for a waiver/reduced
rate. Chairman Jewell stated that they can’t get in a habit of
offering a varying amount of discounts for every event that is held
at the Event Center.
Ms. Scheffer stated that she received two bids for the work to be
performed at the Rodeo Grounds for the Buckaroo Roof, Gold Buckle
Roof and the Buckaroo Skyboxes. She presented the Bids received from
Rodeo Roofing LLC ($112,865.05) and Schademan Construction
($57,014.00) for the Board to review. She stated that the bids
received from Schademan were more detailed and the bid was lower
than Rodeo Roofing LLC. There was discussion on the priority of the
projects and where the funds would come from. The Board encouraged
Ms. Scheffer to award the 3 projects to Schademan Construction and
to work out the financials to cover the cost of the projects that
not currently budgeted for. They authorized Ms. Scheffer to move
forward on the projects she currently has funding for and report
back to the Board with ideas of how to fund the difference.
