COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM
REGULAR MEETING
MONDAY 9:40 A.M. JUNE 26, 2017
Board members present: Chairman Paul Jewell; Vice-Chairman Laura
Osiadacz & Commissioner Obie O’Brien.
Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board II; Lisa Young, HR
Director; Christine Luvera, Lower Dist. Court Judicial
Administrator; Judge James Hurson.
REGULAR MEETING DEPARTMENT HEAD LOWER DIST. COURT
Judge James Hurson stated that Christine Luvera, Lower Dist. Court
Judicial Administrator has given a tentative resignation and they
have offered the position in-house to Barb Demory, Legal Process
Assistant III. He explained that Ms. Luvera is going to stay on
until her home sells and then will be moving to join her husband.
Judge Hurson requested the Board allow them to pay Ms. Demory the
Judicial Administrator salary while being trained which would be an
additional cost of $1,474.00 in addition to Ms. Demory’s current
salary. He stated they have a savings of $4,308.00 in savings from a
Legal Processing Assistant leaving and not having filled it. He
stated that they will be paying Ms. Luvera out for 173 vacation
however there will be savings with Ms. Demory coming in at a lower
pay than what Ms. Luvera is leaving the scale at which ultimately
will have a savings of $979.00. Judge Hurson explained that Ms.
Demory is extremely qualified for the position and is ready to start
cross-training if the Board approves the request.
The Board indicated that the proposal is budget neutral and they
gave their approval to proceed.
