2017-06-20 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />COMMISSIONER’S CONFERENCE ROOM <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />TUESDAY 2:00 P.M. JUNE 20, 2017 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Paul Jewell; Vice-Chairman Laura <br />Osiadacz and Commissioner Obie O’Brien. <br /> <br />Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Deborah Essman, <br />Kittitas County Field & Stream Club. <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING TEANAWAY UPDATE COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />At 2:00 p.m. Chairman Jewell opened a Special Meeting to discuss the <br />use of motorized transportation in the Teanaway Community Forest. He <br />felt it was time for the Board to come up with a positioning <br />statement relating to motorized transportation. <br /> <br />Ms. Essman member of the Kittitas County Field & Stream Club <br />reviewed information and said they have been looking at the plan and <br />are proposing fire egress; opening Dickey Creek; and connectivity to <br />Salmon La Sac. <br /> <br />Mark Cook, Public Works Director provided information on the draft <br />goals and policies to provide a balanced and functional multimodal <br />transportation system that serves the needs in both the Upper and <br />Lower County through providing a transportation system that is safe; <br />efficient and accommodates growth, but respects rural character; <br />complete, multimodal and accommodating outdoor recreation; leveraged <br />by active partnerships; and sustainably funded while maintaining <br />what the County has. <br /> <br />Commissioner Osiadacz provided a handout with an overview of what <br />the recreation portion of the Teanaway Community Forest Management <br />Plan says. She reviewed the advisory committee input, objectives, <br />strategies and tools, enforcement and education and what it means <br />for motorized vehicles in the Teanaway Community Forest. <br /> <br />It was determined the Board would work on a letter to be considered <br />at a later date. <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned 2:45 p.m. <br />KITTITAS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />CLERK OF THE BOARD KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br /> <br /> <br />Julie Kjorsvik Paul Jewell, Chairman
