KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
COMMISSIONER’S AUDITORIUM
SPECIAL MEETING
WEDNESDAY 4:00 P.M. JUNE 7, 2017
Board members present: Chairman Paul Jewell; Vice-Chairman Laura
Osiadacz and Commissioner Obie O’Brien.
Civil Service Commission members: Carrie Youngblood, Ron Profit,
Buck Dawson, Erik Allen
Others: Judy Pless, Budget and Finance Manager; Christopher Horner,
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney; Clayton Myers, Undersheriff; Lisa
Young, Human Resources Director; Debbie Myers, Board Clerk; and
Monica Mersinger, Civil Service Commission applicant.
SPECIAL MEETING CHIEF EXAMINER COMMISSIONERS
At 4:04 p.m. Chairman Jewell opened a Special Meeting to discuss the
position and duties of Chief Examiner and initiated introductions.
Chairman Jewell said Lisa Young, the H.R. Director, had provided the
Chief Examiner’s job description. He said since the position is
vacant this would be a good time to review the position’s
responsibilities and asked for the Commission members input to see
if they should keep the part-time position model as is or make
changes.
Judy Pless, Budget and Finance Manager said the wages and benefits
for the combination H.R./Chief Examiner position come from the HR
budget.
There was discussion on the position duties; responsibilities;
potential conflicts; county structure; elected official positions;
pay and compensation; historical records; retention schedules; and
workload issues.
Lisa Young, HR Director said she estimated the position of Chief
Examiner would take about 10 to 50 hours a month.
Meeting adjourned at 4:44 p.m.
