SPECIAL MEETING ROUNDABOUT FUNDING PUBLIC WORKS
At 3:30 p.m. Chairman Jewell opened a Special Meeting to discuss
funding to secure roundabout and consider a Resolution authorizing
County expenditure supporting construction of the West Ellensburg
Roundabout by the Washington State Department of Transportation
(WSDOT).
Mark Cook, Public Works Director explained that recently the WSDOT
opened bids for construction of the West Ellensburg Roundabout at
Dollarway (SR 97). The low bid is $400,000.00 over project budget
and an additional $45,000.00 is requested supporting possible change
orders. He stated that Public Works is offering the required funding
to secure construction of the project and the City of Ellensburg is
offering to pursue an annexation of Currier Creek Estates and a
segment of University Way currently maintained by the County. He
explained that the annexation process is uncertain and likely to
take a considerable amount of time and Public Works has requested a
“fall back” position from the City allowing cash reimbursement from
the City Traffic Impact Fees. He presented the Board a Joint
Resolution between the County and the City for consideration and
noted that it had been reviewed by the County Prosecutor.
There was discussion on the annex being a priority and Mr. Lyski,
(City Rep.) was in agreement and indicated that he fully understood
