2017-02-08 MINUTES 1 COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON COMMISSIONERS AUDITORIUM WEDNESDAY 2:30 P.M. FEBRUARY 8, 2017 Board members present: Chairman Paul Jewell; Vice-Chairman Laura Osiadacz (by-phone). Excused Commissioner Obie O’Brien. Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board; Members of Kittitas County Mgmt. Team; Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board. EMERGENCY MEETING COMMISSIONERS At 2:30 p.m. Chairman Jewell opened an emergency Special Meeting to consider closing County Offices at 4:00 p.m. on 2/8/2017 due to inclement weather and road conditions. Chairman Jewell explained that due to the inclement weather and road conditions he had been considering sending non-essential staff home at 4:00 p.m. today (2/8/2017). He explained that he received a brief update from Undersheriff Myers on the conditions of the roads & weather and felt it was in the best interest of the public and the safety of County staff. He questioned how the supervisors in attendance felt about the decision and if there were any impacts that would prevent them from closing early. There was discussion on if it would be paid time off for employees without having to use their leave. Commissioner Jewell stated that it would be. Jerry Pettit stated that his office can set up a code for tracking purposes. CLOSURE COUNTY OFFICES COMMISSIONERS Chairman Jewell moved to authorize a closure of the Courthouse at 4:00 p.m. on 2/8/2017 for non-essential staff due to the inclement weather and road conditions. Commissioner Osiadacz seconded. Chairman Jewell asked that staff prepare a press release. Motion carried 2-0.
