2017-02-08 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />COMMISSIONERS AUDITORIUM <br /> <br />WEDNESDAY 2:30 P.M. FEBRUARY 8, 2017 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Paul Jewell; Vice-Chairman Laura <br />Osiadacz (by-phone). Excused Commissioner Obie O’Brien. <br /> <br />Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board; Members of <br />Kittitas County Mgmt. Team; Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board. <br /> <br />EMERGENCY MEETING COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />At 2:30 p.m. Chairman Jewell opened an emergency Special Meeting to <br />consider closing County Offices at 4:00 p.m. on 2/8/2017 due to <br />inclement weather and road conditions. <br /> <br />Chairman Jewell explained that due to the inclement weather and road <br />conditions he had been considering sending non-essential staff home <br />at 4:00 p.m. today (2/8/2017). He explained that he received a brief <br />update from Undersheriff Myers on the conditions of the roads & <br />weather and felt it was in the best interest of the public and the <br />safety of County staff. He questioned how the supervisors in <br />attendance felt about the decision and if there were any impacts <br />that would prevent them from closing early. <br /> <br />There was discussion on if it would be paid time off for employees <br />without having to use their leave. Commissioner Jewell stated that <br />it would be. <br /> <br />Jerry Pettit stated that his office can set up a code for tracking <br />purposes. <br /> <br />CLOSURE COUNTY OFFICES COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />Chairman Jewell moved to authorize a closure of the Courthouse at <br />4:00 p.m. on 2/8/2017 for non-essential staff due to the inclement <br />weather and road conditions. Commissioner Osiadacz seconded. <br />Chairman Jewell asked that staff prepare a press release.
