REGULAR MEETING
HR STUDY SESSION
TUESDAY 10:00 AM MARCH 08, 2016
Board members present: Obie O’Brien, Gary Berndt, Paul Jewell
Others: Lisa Young, Christopher Horner
1) Call to Order – 10:05 AM
2) Claims Administration – DPA Horner asked the Board if they wanted to
continue to hear all claims, or if perhaps they only wanted him to
bring claims over $500. The Board expressed interest in hearing
claims over $500 unless they were out of the ordinary. DPA Horner
and HR Director Young will work on a draft policy and/or ordinance.
3) Executive Session – Collective Bargaining
RCW 42.30.140 (4)(b) that portion of a meeting during which the governing
body is planning or adopting the strategy or position to be taken by the
governing body during the course of any collective bargaining,
professional negotiations, or grievance or mediation proceedings, or
reviewing the proposals made in the negotiations or proceedings while in
progress.
The Board entered Executive Session at 10:13 AM to discuss
negotiation strategies. Anticipated length: 45 minutes; anticipated
action: Direction to staff. At 10:58 the Board extended the
Executive Session for an additional five minutes. The Board exited
Executive Session at 11:03 AM with direction to proceed with
negotiations.
4) Other Business – Commissioner Berndt said he wanted to reinitiate
the CDS Director process and get it moving. Commissioner Jewell
will be reviewing the Fire Marshal job description and give HR
Director Young feedback.
5) Adjourn – 11:10 AM
