COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />BOCC CONFERENCE ROOM <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />TUESDAY 10:00 AM AUGUST 12, 2014 <br />Board members present: Paul Jewell, Gary Berndt, Obie O’Brien <br /> <br />Others: Lisa Young, Greg Zempel <br />REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />1) Call to Order – 10:10 AM <br /> <br />2) Prosecutor Staffing – Prosecutor Zempel requested the <br />ability to hire a DPA III for the Civil division. He <br />indicated he had the funds to cover it in 2014 but wasn’t <br />sure about next year. The Board authorized the hire with <br />emphasis on the potential risk at the next budget cycle. <br /> <br />3) HR Updates <br /> Recruitment – Director Young provided an update on the <br />pending hire of a new KVEC Director; she also provided <br />two extra help options for Fair preparation: 1) WCC <br />Ecology Corps/$3500 for a crew of six (one <br />supervisor/five workers)/10-hour days August 18, 19, 20, <br />and 22; 2) Total Employment/$3200 for a crew of five (one <br />supervisor/four workers). The Board approved hiring <br />both. <br /> HR Closures – Director Young reported that HR would be <br />closed August 26-29. <br /> Other – Director Young asked if she could attend ACA <br />training August 20-21; HR would have to be closed due to <br />other staff in interviews; the Board did not approve. <br /> <br />4) Executive Session – Personnel Matters <br />RCW 42.30.110(g) To evaluate the qualifications of an applicant <br />for public employment or to review the performance of a public <br />employee. However, subject to RCW 42.30.140(4), discussion by a <br />governing body of salaries, wages, and other conditions of <br />employment to be generally applied within the agency shall occur <br />in a meeting open to the public, and when a governing body elects <br />to take final action hiring, setting the salary of an individual
