01/04/2017 MINUTES 1 COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM SPECIAL MEETING WEDNESDAY 10:00 A.M. JANUARY 4, 2017 Board members present: Chairman Paul Jewell & Vice-Chairman Laura Osiadacz. Excused: Commissioner Obie O’Brien. Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board; Judy Pless, Budget & Finance Manager; Kay Kresge, Accountant; Jerry Pettit, Auditor; and Nick Henderson, Coroner. SPECIAL MEETING VEHICLE REPLACEMENT COMMISSIONERS At 10:00 a.m. Chairman Jewell opened a Special Meeting to discuss plans for vehicle replacement in the County Motor Pool. Nick Henderson, Coroner explained that his vehicle was totaled in December and he was in need of a replacement. He stated that he would like to replace his vehicle with a Ford Expedition as it would provide enough space for when he has to take bodies over the pass to the State Forensic Anthropologist. He stated that he is planning to apply for a grant for a vehicle but he still needs something in the interim. The Board discussed possible vehicle’s to remove from the motor pool that could be used in trade-ins and other options. There was discussion on whether or not the Sheriff’s Office would have any vehicles for the Coroner. Commissioner Jewell stated that his only requirements were that the vehicle had more passenger room, 4-wheel drive, and that it be white. Judy Pless, Budget & Finance Director stated that in order for the County to not have to go out for bid they would need to remain under $25,000.00. The Board agreed to declare the Chevy Malibu and two Crown Victoria’s surplus and that would allow them to be used for trade in. They directed Staff to transfer the BoCC Escape to the County Coroner. Commissioner Osiadacz and Jerry Pettit, Auditor were tasked with test driving a Ford Explorer at Kelleher Motor Company.
