Law & Justice Study Session Minutes <br />January 4, 2017 <br />Commissioners Auditorium <br />Meeting called to order at 0805 a.m. <br />Present: Commissioners Paul Jewell and Sheriff Dana. <br />Discuss Gun Range Facility — Commissioner Jewell mentioned that Mark (with Public Works) discussed <br />with him at the Airport Facility an indoor year round facility. <br />Update on the existing range, per Sheriff Dana, is that we are trying to contact Tom Scott do find out as to <br />what level does he want for cleanup. The L&J earmarked funds for cleanup. Commissioner Jewell <br />mentioned to get an estimate from Public Works. <br />Action taken: none <br />Discuss Road Diversion -Commissioner Jewell mentioned that Mark (with Public Works) would like to see <br />if law enforcement would assist from time to time during the chip sealing. Sheriff Dana advised that we <br />track activity that shows traffic stops, etc., cost and that we work with.Judy and that another grant has been <br />submitted for another speed trailer. <br />Action taken: none <br />Annual update — Sheriff Dana advised that we are still down 7 in the jail. We have two LE clerks in <br />background, one Deputy going to academy and one Deputy on FTO program. We are assisting Grant <br />County with their EMS. All of our deputies had training with CIT (Critical Incident Training). In reviewing <br />our fuel the DOT fuel is still down our Citizen Complaints are down. We have received good reports from <br />Upper County with appreciation in visibility. <br />Sheriff Dana mentioned that for 2017 major projects; the office will be going through Accreditation process; <br />Chief Financial Manager Heather Seibert will handle the managing and tracking. There will be a full <br />courthouse drill with KVFR. Sheriff Dana will check with Commander Higashiyama on the guidelines and <br />time frame for this drill. <br />Action taken: none. <br />Meeting adjourned 0 a.m. <br />Gene b -an a-'," Sheriff <br />Paul Jewell, Chairman <br />
