COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM
REGULAR MEETING
MONDAY 9:40 A.M. DECEMBER 5, 2016
Board members present: Chairman Obie O’Brien; Vice-Chairman Paul
Jewell & Commissioner Laura Osiadacz.
Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board; Greg Zempel,
Prosecutor.
REGULAR MEETING DEPARTMENT HEAD PROSECUTOR
Greg Zempel, Prosecutor reported that after the Special Meeting with
the Board on November 30, 2016, where departments were asked to
review their budgets again and make additional cuts, he has
$98,927.00 to cut according to Budget and Finance Manager Judy
Pless. The Board questioned how Mr. Zempel came up with $98,927.00.
He stated that it appears former Deputy Prosecutor Michael Nigrey
was still listed as an employee which was approximately $64,000.00 a
year and then he has a few long term employees who will be retiring
or moving on to other departments. He stated that when they re-fill
those positions being vacated such as Robin Raap, Admin Asst. and
Candace Hooper, Senior Criminal Deputy Prosecutor, they will not be
bringing in new hires at the top of the pay scale, where the former
employee left at. He stated that this will still allow him to make
the changes discussed in his Budget Study Session, such as changes
for Deputy Prosecutor Doug Mitchell and Legal Secretary Jacob
Schroeder.
