REGULAR MEETING

Board members present: Obie O’Brien, Paul Jewell, Laura Osiadacz
Others: Lisa Young, member of the Kittitas County Friends of Animals.
REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS
1) Call to order: 10:07 AM
2) Staffing Discussion/Requests
Prosecutor – TABLED, Prosecutor not present.
3) Executive Session – Qualifications of a Candidate
RCW 42.30.110 (g) To evaluate the qualifications of an applicant for public employment or
to review the performance of a public employee. However, subject to RCW 42.30.140(4),
discussion by a governing body of salaries, wages, and other conditions of employment to
be generally applied within the agency shall occur in a meeting open to the public, and
when a governing body elects to take final action hiring, setting the salary of an individual
employee or class of employees, or discharging or disciplining an employee, that action
shall be taken in a meeting open to the public.
The Board entered executive session at 10:07 AM to discuss the qualifications of a
candidate for public employment. Anticipated length: 30 minutes; anticipated action:
Direction to staff. The Board exited executive session at 10:37 AM with direction to
proceed with interviews.
4) Other Business
DD Project – Commissioner Jewell expressed his dissatisfaction with how long it took
to complete the first job carving for a position in the Treasurer’s Office. HR Director
Young explained the process and why it took longer than anticipated.
A member of the Kittitas County Friends of Animals was present to express some
concerns regarding procedures and share information with the Board. The member
indicated he would also be speaking with Dr. Larson, Health Officer. Commissioner
Jewell suggested that the member meet with Dr. Larson first, and if he wanted to have
additional opportunity for discussion that he could contact BOCC staff to request to be
included on the next Board of Health meeting agenda.
