10/18/2016 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />COMMISSIONERS AUDITORIUM <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />TUESDAY 2:00 P.M. OCTOBER 18, 2016 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Obie O’Brien; Vice-Chairman Paul <br />Jewell and Commissioner Laura Osiadacz. <br /> <br />Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Lucas Huck, Engineer; <br />and 1 member of the public. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING LESTER ROAD & SCHNEBLY ROAD PUBLIC WORKS <br /> <br />At 2:00 p.m. CHAIRMAN O’BRIEN opened a Public Hearing to consider <br />updating Kittitas County Code Chapter 10.12.010 Stop & Yield Signs <br />designated for the intersection of Lester Road and Schnebly Road. <br /> <br />LUCAS HUCK, ENGINEER provided a Staff Report and indicated their <br />department internally discussed with the Traffic Technician and <br />Lower County Road Crew Supervisors, the need to place an appropriate <br />intersection control signing device at the intersection of Lester <br />Road and Schnebly Road. He recommended the Board approve the draft <br />Ordinance reflecting the change. <br /> <br />THERE BEING NO ONE REQUESTING TO TESTIFY, THE PUBLIC PORTION OF THE <br />HEARING WAS CLOSED. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE 2016-019 LESTER ROAD & SCHNEBLY ROAD PUBLIC WORKS <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER JEWELL moved to approve Ordinance No. 2016-019, <br />Placement of a Yield Sign at the Intersection of Lester Road and <br />Schnebly Road and Amending Section 10.12.010 of the Kittitas County <br />Code, effective upon the installation of appropriate signage. <br />COMMISSIONER OSIADACZ seconded. Motion carried 3-0. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING SONES ROAD & PARKE CREEK ROAD PUBLIC WORKS <br /> <br />At 2:02 p.m. CHAIRMAN O’BRIEN opened a Public Hearing to consider <br />updating Kittitas County Code Chapter 10.12.010 Stop & Yield Signs <br />designated for the Sones Road and Parke Creek Road intersection. <br /> <br />LUCAS HUCK, ENGINEER provided a Staff Report and indicated their <br />department internally discussed with the Traffic Technician and <br />Lower County Road Crew Supervisors, the need to replace the Yield <br />sign with a Stop sign due to poor sight distance at the intersection <br />of Sones Road and Parke Creek Road. He recommended the Board <br />approve the draft Ordinance reflecting the change. <br />
