KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
COMMISSIONERS AUDITORIUM
SPECIAL MEETING
TUESDAY 2:00 P.M. OCTOBER 18, 2016
Board members present: Chairman Obie O’Brien; Vice-Chairman Paul
Jewell and Commissioner Laura Osiadacz.
Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Lucas Huck, Engineer;
and 1 member of the public.
PUBLIC HEARING LESTER ROAD & SCHNEBLY ROAD PUBLIC WORKS
At 2:00 p.m. CHAIRMAN O’BRIEN opened a Public Hearing to consider
updating Kittitas County Code Chapter 10.12.010 Stop & Yield Signs
designated for the intersection of Lester Road and Schnebly Road.
LUCAS HUCK, ENGINEER provided a Staff Report and indicated their
department internally discussed with the Traffic Technician and
Lower County Road Crew Supervisors, the need to place an appropriate
intersection control signing device at the intersection of Lester
Road and Schnebly Road. He recommended the Board approve the draft
Ordinance reflecting the change.
THERE BEING NO ONE REQUESTING TO TESTIFY, THE PUBLIC PORTION OF THE
HEARING WAS CLOSED.
ORDINANCE 2016-019 LESTER ROAD & SCHNEBLY ROAD PUBLIC WORKS
COMMISSIONER JEWELL moved to approve Ordinance No. 2016-019,
Placement of a Yield Sign at the Intersection of Lester Road and
Schnebly Road and Amending Section 10.12.010 of the Kittitas County
Code, effective upon the installation of appropriate signage.
COMMISSIONER OSIADACZ seconded. Motion carried 3-0.
PUBLIC HEARING SONES ROAD & PARKE CREEK ROAD PUBLIC WORKS
At 2:02 p.m. CHAIRMAN O’BRIEN opened a Public Hearing to consider
updating Kittitas County Code Chapter 10.12.010 Stop & Yield Signs
designated for the Sones Road and Parke Creek Road intersection.
LUCAS HUCK, ENGINEER provided a Staff Report and indicated their
department internally discussed with the Traffic Technician and
Lower County Road Crew Supervisors, the need to replace the Yield
sign with a Stop sign due to poor sight distance at the intersection
of Sones Road and Parke Creek Road. He recommended the Board
approve the draft Ordinance reflecting the change.

ORDINANCE 2016-020 SONES ROAD & PARKE CREEK ROAD PUBLIC WORKS
COMMISSIONER JEWELL moved to approve Ordinance No. 2016-020,
Replacement of an Existing Yield Sign with a Stop Sign at the
Intersection of Parke Creek Road and Sones Road and Amending Section
10.12.010 of the Kittitas County Code, effective upon the
installation of appropriate signage. COMMISSIONER OSIADACZ seconded.
Motion carried 3-0.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:06 p.m.
