SPECIAL MEETING
THURSDAY 9:00 A.M. SEPTEMBER 15, 2016
Board members present: Chairman Obie O’Brien; Vice-Chairman, Paul
Jewell & Commissioner Laura Osiadacz.
Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board.
SPECIAL MEETING COG POPULATION COMMISSIONERS
At 9:00 a.m. Chairman O’Brien opened a Special Meeting to discuss
the County’s position regarding COG population allocations.
Chairman O’Brien presented a spreadsheet (Kittitas County Growth
Allocation Tool) for the Board to discuss. There was roundtable
discussion amongst Board members regarding their personal concerns
for the projected growth of the UGA study areas. There were
questions regarding the formulas used or where the numbers came
from. Chairman O’Brien indicated that the numbers came from OFM and
the consultant (BERK) has compiled the formulas and done the
statistical work.
There was discussion revolving around the strategies and planning
the BoCC needs to consider with the upcoming Comp Plan because the
two issues will have impacts on each other.
Commissioner Jewell asked for another presentation from BERK. He
felt the discussion is very important and would like BERK there to
answer questions for the Board.
