KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
COMMISSIONERS AUDITORIUM
SPECIAL MEETING
TUESDAY 2:00 P.M. APRIL 5, 2016
Board members present: Chairman Obie O’Brien and Vice-Chairman Paul
Jewell. (Kittitas County Commissioner District #2 – Vacant).
Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Brenda Larsen, Fire
Marshal; Val Barschaw, Clerk; and Josh Hink, Deputy Fire Marshal.
PUBLIC HEARING PERMIT FEES FIRE MARSHAL
At 2:00 p.m. CHAIRMAN O’BRIEN opened a Public Hearing to consider
amending the Fire Marshal Permit Fees.
BRENDA LARSEN, FIRE MARSHAL reviewed the proposed fee increases for
their department, noting they had not been increased since 2014 and
they had not been at full cost recovery. COMMISSIONER JEWELL said he
was not opposed to full cost recovery, but was concerned with the
amount of increase relating to event permits. MS. LARSEN explained
the differences between event permits that are required for the
larger for-profit events, and those who would not require obtaining
a permit. THERE BEING NO ONE REQUESTING TO TESTIFY, THE PUBLIC
PORTION OF THE HEARING WAS CLOSED.
ORDINANCE 2016-007 PERMIT FEES FIRE MARSHAL
COMMISSIONER JEWELL moved to approve Ordinance No. 2016-007,
Amending the Fee Schedule for the Fire Marshal Permit Fees, and to
amend the fee schedule to reflect a change to the Event Permits from
$250.00 to $165.00 and to reduce the Wildland Urban Interface Permit
Fee from $200.00 to $175.00. CHAIRMAN O’BRIEN seconded. Motion
carried 2-0.
PUBLIC HEARING AMEND COUNTY CODE TITLE 20 FIRE MARSHAL
At 2:25 p.m. CHAIRMAN O’BRIEN opened a Public Hearing to consider
modifying Title 20 of the Kittitas County Code to ensure consistency
throughout the County Code.
JOSH HINK, DEPUTY FIRE MARSHAL reviewed a proposed Ordinance to
Amend Title 20 of the Kittitas County Code. THERE BEING NO ONE
REQUESTING TO TESTIFY, THE PUBLIC PORTION OF THE HEARING WAS CLOSED.

ORDINANCE 2016-008 AMEND COUNTY CODE TITLE 20 FIRE MARSHAL
COMMISSIONER JEWELL moved to approve Ordinance No. 2016-008,
Amending Title 20 of the Kittitas County Code. CHAIRMAN O’BRIEN
seconded. Motion carried 2-0.
The meeting was adjourned 2:30 p.m.
