2016-02-09 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />TUESDAY 3:00 P.M. FEBRUARY 9, 2016 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Obie O’Brien; Vice-Chairman Paul Jewell <br />and Commissioner Gary Berndt. <br /> <br />Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Judy Pless, Budget & <br />Finance Manager; Greg Zempel, Prosecutor; Gene Dana, Sheriff; Jerry <br />Pettit, Auditor; Clay Myers, Undersheriff; and 1 member of the public. <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING STATE AUDITOR FOLLOW UP WITH SHERIFF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />At 3:00 p.m. Chairman O’Brien opened a Special Meeting with <br />representatives of the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Department, <br />following up on the January 28, 2016 State Auditor Exit Conference <br />and Management Letter issued. <br /> <br />Clay Myers, Undersheriff, indicated that each item referenced in the <br />State Auditor’s Management Letter had been addressed and policies <br />put in place. He reviewed a policy they now have in place that <br />states any contract which involves any type of funding must be <br />approved by the County Commissioners. <br /> <br />The Sheriff’s Office is currently working with the Auditor’s office <br />to come up with an overtime rate to charge other entities. In the <br />meantime, all law enforcement services relating to overtime with <br />private entities have been suspended until a rate has been <br />determined and approved through the necessary process. <br /> <br />There was follow up discussion on the Management Letter item <br />relating to an unauthorized purchase of wave runners as well.
