01/25/2010 MINUTES 1
COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM
REGULAR MEETING

MONDAY 10:10 A.M. JANUARY 25, 2010

Board members present: Chairman Mark McClain, Vice-Chairman Paul
Jewell and Commissioner Alan Crankovich.

Others: Mandy Robinson, Deputy Clerk of the Board; Gene Dana,
Sheriff.

REGULAR MEETING DEPARTMENT HEAD SHERIFF

Sheriff, Gene Dana presented the Board with four Travel
Authorizations for the following employees: Darren Higashiyama,
Randy Costello, Shawn Stredwick & Robert Gubser. He indicated that
the conference/training’s for Higashiyama, Costello & Stredwick were
paid for by outside agencies at no cost to the County. He indicated
that Higashiyama’s training is in Dallas, Texas (3/8/10-3/10/10) and
Costello and Stredwick’s training is in Baltimore, MD. (2/22/10-
2/24/10). Sheriff Gene Dana indicated that
the training would be paid for from Homeland Security funding, and
that this is technically the first step in applying for the Grant
the Sheriff’s Department is trying to obtain. He explained that the
training is to put an “IT” person in the Sheriff’s Office that would
be paid for out of the Emergency Management budget and is a three-
year project which the position would be full cost recovery. The
position would create a set up for Critical Incident Preparedness
Technologies. Commissioner Jewell approved the travel authorization
for Commander Gubser.
