2019-04-23 MINUTES 1 COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON COMMISSIONERS AUDITORIUM SPECIAL MEETING TUESDAY 11:00 A.M. APRIL 23, 2019 Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright; Vice-Chairman Brett Wachsmith and Commissioner Laura Osiadacz. Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Candie Leader, Administrative Assistant; Kady Porterfield, Event Center Director; Patti Johnson, Solid Waste Director/Project Manager; Jim Goeben, IT Director; Lisa Young, Human Resource Director; Tip Hudson, WSU Extension Agent; and Tristen Lamb, Public Health Administrator. SPECIAL MEETING DEPARTMENT HEAD UPDATE COMMISSIONERS At 11:00 a.m. Chairman Wright opened a Special Meeting to provide an update to Department Heads and to consider separating Solid Waste/Maintenance/Event Center Study Sessions. Chairman Wright said the Board was trying to change the way they meet with Department Heads to try and better the process for everyone involved. The Board members shared how they would like to get back to meeting with Department Heads as a “Board” instead of having one-on-one meetings to ensure everyone is on the same page and hearing the same information. They hoped the new process would help streamline, save time, and allow for Department Heads to request action on issues that maybe required by the Board instead of only hearing information from one member, and then having to schedule another meeting to get official action. Public Works Department: Candie said Director Cook would like to keep their regularly scheduled meetings with Community Development Services on the 2nd & 4th Monday each month, and asked to hold an additional meeting for just their department on the alternate weeks. Community Development Services: Dan said he would like to keep their regularly scheduled meeting with the Public Works Department on the 2nd and 4th Monday each month and would schedule Special Meetings, if needed.
