We will again use diverse marketing businesses io achieve widespread print, digital, radio adverlising targeted to our audience. We will wrrk closely again with Chinook Entertainment to schedule entertainment that is coming from outside the immediate region AND has a following that will travel. Bands with good marketing and loyal audience will be given preference over others. (Assuming everything else- howthey sound and what they cost being equal) We have two local Kittitas County cider houses. Cideries with established clientele and follovr, ers will have a higher priority than those with little or no marketing ability or fan base. Having cideries from out of state proved to be problematic due to the nature of WSLCB, but having vendors {rom Spokane, TriCities, the Olympic Peninsula, and around the state will happen again. Our partnership with Sip l*'lorihWest and CiderCraft magalnes targets a very wide area (entire uest coast) but ihe publications are selective as to audience. Their subscribers are mostly in Washington, but are affluent tourists - craft beverage tourists. Their print magalnes are widely distributed, heavily along the l-5 corridor from Portland to Bellingham, in high end hotels, restaurants, winerys, brerneries, etc. and their digital presence is far wider. Their goal is to sell the whole norlhvliest as a craft beverage vacation desiination. They will provide data io us regarding Iocation of interested people (that click through to our urebsite) at the conclusion of this year's adveriising plan. The ultimate purpose of this fundraiser event is to benefit our capital campaign, and get the Yakima Canyon lnterpretive Center built. That in itself is a big-picture, long-term tourist benefit. We want people to take to heart the Kittitas Environmental Education Netvr, nrk message, and become eplorers of the Yakima Canyon, the Teanai, ray Community Forest, the windfarm, Ginkgo state park, and all the rest. Our mission is to "Connect Community to Nature", and create life-long learners. Additional lnformation 2018 riras only our second Ciderfest, and the feedback \,re heard vras thai it was extremely well planned and the feedback from ciderhouses, publications and others in the industry has been entirely positive. Many of them now have WindFall on their radar as having a capable team with good support from the Ellensburg/Kittitas County community. There are several connections which have been identified that ue will strengthen in the next planning process, and be able to iake advantage of with more time and organization. But interest has been documented and the willingness of people to step out for such a memory-making getaway event is proven. Attached is Chinook Entertainment's proposal lor 2020. This event is designed to highlight the agriculiural environment thai is not only Kittitas County but all of Central Washington. lt draws aitention to smaller family farms, and the increasingly diverse \ ays ihat our rural nature is sustained by producing orchard commodities in a neuer uays (that are actually really old). Cider is indeed trending, with a growing audience rniho support the market because: they like the flavor; they like the variety of flavors; they like that it's locally made; they like that small orchards are getting a new lease on life; they like a frosty aduli beverage on a hot day (and they're maybe a little tired of beer); they are avoiding gluten; ihey are focused on buying organic/local; they \^ant to try making it themselves; they v\ant to share it with others. The music has also proven to be a great draw. Roots Music across the region continues to have a loyal audience, and in fact, attendance at Chinook Entertainment festivals is increasing. https://wuirv.dailyrecordner,r,s.conr/outdoorslkeen-connects-windfall-cider-fest-and- roots-music-is-abouVarticle 5d78b6f8-8126-5756-9c08-2681d3168ac1.htm| 2500 characler lirit Supporting Documents Yor.r nay upload any supporting docunenis such as graphs, inages, diagrans, narketing naterials, etc. 2020 Cider Event_Option B.pdf 160.29K8 One ueek auay email- WindFall.pdf 56.96K8 final poster.pdf 2.96M8 You are allowed to subnit up to 3 single page (l.S Lefter) docunents in JFq FDFor llFFfornat 7l Previous Lodging Tax Grant Information Previous Years Awarded Lodging Tax Grants* Fbs your event received Lodging Tax funds in previous years? i No, this evenVproject has not previously received Lodging Tax Funding C Yes, 1 year previous G Yes,2 years previous a Yes, 3 or more years previous How many participants and spectators attended last year's activity and/or will attend this year? Flouever, Tree Top and Solarity Credit Union have both verbally promised to support next year, and their community giving season (time to apply) is in November. CiderCraft and Sip Maga2nes have told us definitely they want their names associated with this event, as has the NW Cider Association. I have estimated, based on our verbal conversations, the approximate amount of potential sponsorship from these known partners below. CiderCraft and Sip in particular are excited about this new eveni and have indicated "r,rrre want to help make this a landmark event", and they will bring their industry contacts with them. 2500 character linit \Arhat changes would occur if the prqiect couldn't be funded? lf WindFall was to not receive any lodging tax funding, raie u,ould need io analyze ttltich parts of the event to reduce. Likely NPR and Chinook Entertainment costs urrculd be reduced - that uould mean smaller name bands attending. Since none of the lodging tax can be used for food or drink, (wtrich is half the theme of the overall event), WindFall uould probably have to choose smaller, less well-known bands, hire a cheaper stage and have a lovwr quality show That uould be a shame, since it appears that the initial interest from many people is the attraction of the known bands. For instance, since vrc booked Old Salt Union as a headliner (for 2018) they have been touring the vlest, and are nownamed as one of the rising stars in the bluegrass scene. Until this event has a few years and a performance record, funding will be critical to get quality entertainment, and to get the vracrd out about it. 2500 character linit. 68.40 lhis fidd will auto fill with the conect percentage based on your inpr.rt to budget section bdoiv For any clainEd irFkjnd contributiors valued at $500 or rrore and related 10 narketinfladvertising, you nust subnit verifying docunentatio'] which assures the contribution will be provided.
