4. Executive Session — RCW 42.30.110(1)(g), To evaluate the qualifications of an applicant for
public employment or to review the performance of a public employee. However, subject to
RCW 42.30.140(4), discussion by a governing body of salaries, wages, and other conditions of
employment to be generally applied within the agency shall occur in a meeting open to the
public, and when a governing body elects to take final action hiring, setting the salary of an
individual employee or class of employees, or discharging or disciplining an employee, that
action shall be taken in a meeting open to the public.

Meeting was called to order at 1:30 pm
CODE ENFORCEMENT PROGRESS REPORT
Director Carlson provided a Code Enforcement Progress report to
the Board of County Commissioners. Director Carlson stated the
Code Enforcement Officer was hired in January and began using
the SmartGov tracking software immediately to track the past and
current code enforcement files. Director Carlson provided an
update on one hi -profile case. Commissioner Wright asked how
many cases get resolved by the education process. Director
Carlson responded that Code Enforcement has been fairly
successful with voluntary compliance, using compliance
agreements that provide a schedule and/or a plan to resolve the
code violations.
FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY INSPECTIONS PROGRESS REPORT
Director Carlson provided a quarterly progress report of the
Fire and Life Safety inspections. Fire Marshall is doing
research with the State Licensing to find other businesses that
need their inspections completed. The Fire Marshall has a list
of those businesses that he will be reaching out to for
inspections. Commissioner Osaidacz asked if inspections have
been or will they be done on Airbnb's. Director Carlson stated
that the way our code is written now it exempts Airbnd's from
fire and life safety inspections. Director Carlson received a
recommendation from the Prosecutors Office to make some code
changes to allow inspections to occur.
EXECUTIVE SESSION - RCW 42.30.110(1)(g), at 1:44 p.m. Chairman
Wright announced the Board would rece3ss into Executive Session
for 7 minutes, to evaluate the qualifications of an applicant
for public employment or to review the performance of a public
employee. No action was anticipated.
At 1:51 p.m. the Board requested 5 more minutes for the
Executive Session.

Direction was given to Staff.
