SPECIAL MEETING EVENT CENTER PARKING LOT PROJECT COMMISSIONERS
At 9:00 a.m. Chairman Wright opened a Special Meeting with County
Staff to receive an update on the discussion that Commissioner
Wachsmith and Patti Johnson, Solid Waste Director/Project Manager
had on June 18, with CWU regarding the Event Center Parking Lot.
Patti Johnson, Solid Waste Director/Project Manager stated that
after the meeting and looking at the space they anticipate being
able to get approximately 500 parking spaces in the proposed area.
She stated that the Master Plan calls for 922 spaces, and if there
wasn’t a need for water hookups it would provide some additional
spaces but still not 900 spaces. She reviewed the options that were
discussed and explained that either the County could lease the space
to CWU with language in the Agreement calling out specific times
where the Event Center would have rights to the lot during events,
etc. She stated that they had parking lot zones figured out for
different types of use. She stated that another option would be that
the County funds the project and CWU would pay to use it. She stated
they are anticipating the project being roughly 5 million dollars.
There was discussion on funding options for both parties and
timelines.
Commissioner Wachsmith indicated that he would meet with the County
Treasurer and work on getting a meeting set up with the County’s
bonding agent and the Board to run numbers to see the impacts they
would have with different scenarios.
The Board also indicated they would like to include their Prosecutor
into the conversations so depending on the route they go, the
language would be clear in the Agreement.
The meeting was adjourned 9:25 a.m.
