09/17/2019 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON COMMISSIONERS AUDITORIUM SPECIAL MEETING <br /> TUESDAY 2:00 P.M. SEPTEMBER 17, 2019 <br />Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright; Vice-Chairman Brett <br />Wachsmith. Absent: Commissioner Laura Osiadacz. <br /> <br />Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board and Mark Cook, Public <br />Works Director/Interim Engineer. <br /> PUBLIC HEARING GAME FARM ROAD SPEED PUBLIC WORKS <br /> <br />At 2:00 p.m. CHAIRMAN WRIGHT opened a Public Hearing to consider a <br />speed reduction on Game Farm Road and to Amend Kittitas County Code <br />Section 10.08.020 Speed Limits. <br /> MARK COOK, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR/INTERIM ENGINEER provided a Staff <br />Report and reviewed the background and survey that was conducted of <br />the four vertical curves following a site visit. He indicated the <br />four vertical curves that were surveyed on Game Farm Road do not <br />meet the national minimum standards for safe sight stopping distance <br />at 50 MPH. Three of the curves met the requirements of 35 MPH while <br />a fourth requires a slower speed. The Public Works Department <br />proposed lowering the speed limit on Game Farm Road (MP 1.04 to MP <br />2.54) to 35 MPH and to sign the fourth curve as an advisory 25 MPH <br />to increase safety for area residents and the traveling public. <br /> THERE BEING NO ONE IN ATTENDANCE, THE PUBLIC TESTIMONY PORTION OF THE HEARING WAS CLOSED. <br /> ORDINANCE 2019-011 GAME FARM ROAD SPEED PUBLIC WORKS COMMISISONER WACHSMITH moved to approve Ordinance No. 2019-011, <br />Establishment of a Speed Zone and the Placement of Speed Limit Signs <br />on Game Farm Road and to Amend Section 10.08.020 Speed Limits of the <br />Kittitas County Code. CHAIRMAN WRIGHT seconded.
