COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
COMMISSIONER’S CONFERENCE ROOM
SPECIAL MEETING
TUESDAY 11:30 A.M. OCTOBER 15, 2019
Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright, Vice-Chairman Brett
Wachsmith, and Commissioner Laura Osiadacz.
Others: Taylor Crouch, Deputy Clerk of the Board I; Kady Porterfield,
Event Center Director; Lisa Young, HR Director, and 1 member of the
public.
SPECIAL MEETING KVEC REQUEST EVENT CENTER
At 11:33 a.m. Chairman Wright opened a Special Meeting to discuss
staffing requests at the Kittitas Valley Event Center.
Kady Porterfield, Event Center Director reviewed the 2019 organizational
chart for KVEC. She explained the need for a full-time Office Clerk
position. She explained how the Event Center relied on 2,500 volunteer
hours from one person in 2019 and how that was not going to always be a
guarantee. She explained that having a part-time employee is not the
most beneficial way to spend money because there is re-training every
year for the part-time position. She felt having a full-time employee in
the position would save costs over time.
There was discussion of other positions at KVEC and who the positions
report to in regards to the organizational structure.
The Board asked Ms. Porterfield to finalize the 2020 budget for KVEC,
including the suggested personnel changes. The Board showed support in
staffing KVEC as long as the funds were in place in the budget.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:02 p.m.
