COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON COMMISSIONER’S CONFERENCE ROOM SPECIAL MEETING TUESDAY 3:30 P.M. DECEMBER 10, 2019
Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright; Vice-Chairman Brett
Wachsmith and Commissioner Laura Osiadacz.
Others: Taylor Crouch, Deputy Clerk of the Board I. Via conference call:
Mark Lindbaugh, Heidi Schott, and Kristy Moore of The Ferguson Group.
SPECIAL MEETING THE FERGUSON GROUP COMMISSIONERS
At 3:30 p.m. Chairman Wright opened a Special Meeting to obtain
information from The Ferguson Group on the Federal Funding process for
I-90 projects.
Mr. Linbaugh, Ms. Schott and Ms. Moore representing The Ferguson Group
provided background information and their involvement with assisting
agencies with securing Federal loans and grants for projects. They
specialize in rural areas and counties and have extensive knowledge of
Congress and Administration to help achieve success. The steps they
follow to assist obtaining Grants include Identifying Local Priorities;
Opportunity Analysis; Strategically Position Projects; Grant Writing and
Organizing Political Support. Ms. Moore explained how there were many
grants available for projects through “Infragrants”.
The Board discussed the I-90 expansion project for a 3rd lane within
Kittitas County and the work that’s already been done by different
resources. The main concern was procuring the funding for this project
without using State funds.
The Board thanked everyone for their input and said they would reach out
to Mr. Linbaugh at The Ferguson Group for them to present a proposal to
the Board at a later date.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:13 p.m.
