12/30/2019 MINUTES 1 COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON COMMISSIONER’S AUDITORIUM SPECIAL MEETING MONDAY 3:00 P.M. DECEMBER 30, 2019 Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright; Vice-Chairman Brett Wachsmith and Commissioner Laura Osiadacz. Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Kady Porterfield, Event Center Director; and Bob Crowe, Ellensburg Rodeo Board Member. SPECIAL MEETING BEST OF THE BEST RODEO PARKING EVENT CENTER Kady Porterfield, Event Center Director explained how there was a need for additional contestant parking for Labor Day weekend due to an additional rodeo event that’s scheduled to be taking place. A suggestion was to have additional contestant parking out at the Airport property and have the County lease it to the Rodeo Board for the weekend. Bob Crowe, Ellensburg Rodeo Board Member, said the Rodeo Board may be interested in the property which is located just past the DNR on Bowers Road. He indicated they had been looking at other property including the Pfenning Road area. The Board said they weren’t against the idea as they felt it would be an investment in Ellensburg as the Rodeo continues to grow, but there were a lot of logistic hurdles that needed to be resolved prior to them approving it. Mr. Crowe said the Best of the Best Rodeo event is currently a standalone one and is not currently associated with the PRCA Rodeo. The Board said there would need to be a lot of outreach done to let people know what they were trying to accomplish prior to the event and suggested key people to contact. They recommended finding out what the requirements would be from the Public Health Department. Ms. Porterfield said she would keep the Board updated on the progress.
